Be Confident, But Not Complacent
The following excerpt from Robert Hubbel’s recent newsletter provides hope with a caveat:
“As we move closer to election day, I expect to hear more comparisons that begin with, ‘On this day in 2016, Hillary Clinton held a lead of X% over Trump . . . .”’
Don’t fall for the anxiety-producing trap. Biden isn’t Hillary, and Trump isn’t an untested newcomer selling pipe dreams and Shinola. We have had four years to learn who Trump is and how he will govern. He has proven himself to be a clear and present danger to our democracy and to the health and safety of all Americans. That is a big difference compared to 2016. We should still expect an October Surprise from Bill Barr and John Durham, but Biden’s lead has been as durable as Trump’s unfavorable ratings.
We have endured one of the most unpredictable and tumultuous elections in U.S. history to date.
We are still standing.
We can make it to the finish line.
Don’t let up! We have every reason to be confident but no reason to be complacent.”
