Together We Elect aims to engage, motivate, train, and support individuals and groups to take effective action to maintain or expand Democratic representation in the U.S. House and Senate in 2022. The current group grew from the work of Together for 2020, which mobilized more than 10,000 volunteers working in critical states to elect Biden/Harris, take the Senate, and hold onto the House.

GOALS:
They promote and amplify events and volunteer opportunities offered by organizations such as Swing Left, Force Multiplier, Activate America, Movement Labs, Movement Voter Project, as well as coordinated campaigns and candidates in swing districts and states. They are laser-focused on finding new volunteers and inspiring past volunteers to find specific, effective actions that fit their skills, timetable, and preferences.

Postcard and letter writing, Texting, Phone calling, Fundraising, Relational organizing, and Amplifying the work of on-the-ground organizations in key states.

Grandmothers for a Brighter Future

Lincoln residents and the LDTC have partnered with the Grandmothers for A Brighter Future since its founding in 2008. Lincoln residents, of all ages, women and men, have been active writing postcards to voters in selected states in support of Democratic Senatorial Candidates.

GOALS:
Elect Democratic Candidates for Senate;  Voting rights; climate change; sensible gun laws; health care; and job opportunities that provide a living wage.

ACTIONS INCLUDE:
Volunteers write postcards with a group or as individuals at home to voters.  In 2020 over 50 volunteers wrote 9800 postcards to voters in four states. These postcards make a difference especially in today’s races which have such slim margins of victory. For example, in 2016, we supported Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire, who won by a margin of 1,017 votes.  (Not only was Senator Hassan an outstanding candidate, but also she grew up in Lincoln.)

The organization brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications.

GOALS:
Voter suppression, particularly of voters of color and young voters, is a scourge our country faces in states across the nation. Georgia’s 2018 elections shone a bright light on the issue with elections that were rife with mismanagement, irregularities, unbelievably long lines and more, exposing both recent and also decades-long actions and inactions by the state to thwart the right to vote. Georgians and Americans are fighting back, and Fair Fight Action was founded to organize collective efforts to expose, mitigate, and reverse voter suppression.
